Scout uniforms are an important part of the Scouts BSA program and one of the methods of scouting. Each scout gets to be part of a group demonstrated by their uniforms, and each group has a personal sense of identity. The scout uniform is also a display case for a scout's individual accomplishments and recognition.

We wear the uniform to associate ourselves with the principles to which we are committed - character development, citizenship training, and physical and mental fitness. The uniform is not intended to hide our individuality, but it is a way we give each other strength and support. Scouting is built on positive values. As we wear the uniform, we stand together and encourage each other to live by those principles. Scouts and adults take pride in belonging to this program and wear the uniform correctly.

Scouts wear their "Class A" uniforms (Tan button up shirt) *with proper insignia, Troop 49 or other BSA Neckerchief, and appropriate shorts or pants (no gym shorts or sweats) to Troop Meetings, Courts of Honor, while driving to and from camp, and at all outings.
Class A uniforms with neckerchiefs and Merit Badge Sashes are worn at Courts of Honor, Flag Ceremonies, Cub Scout Arrow of Light Crossovers, and other formal events. Merit Badges are sewn on the front of the sash and participation badges may be sewn on the back.
Scouts wear their "Class B" uniforms (Troop T-shirts) to Service Projects and Eagle Project work days, when appropriate.
BSA hats, belt, and socks are optional.

Proper "Class A" insignia includes the following:
- The American Flag is sewn on the right sleeve.
- The Patrol patch is sewn under the American Flag on the right sleeve.
- The 2024 Gold "Journey to Excellence" patch is sewn under the Patrol patch.
- The Council patch is sewn on the left sleeve.
- The number 49 is sewn on the left sleeve under the Council patch.
- The position patch (i.e. SPL, ASPL, etc) is sewn on the left sleeve under the Troop number.
- The rank patch is sewn on the left pocket.

All scouts consistently wearing uniforms for meetings and outings makes the adventures better. If you need help obtaining a proper uniform, please contact the Scoutmaster.

Troop 49 scouts wear the Troop 49 Neckerchief. Troop 49 has a supply of these neckerchiefs at a cost of $10.00 each. Green epaulets are also available from the Troop for $4.00 a set.
