Troop 49 is part of the Scouting America's Potawatomi Area Council in the Western Trails District.
All Scouting America Troops have an executive structure that represents the Chartered Organization and the Troop.

Troop 49 is chartered by the Delafield American Legion Post 196.
The Charter Executive Officer is a member of the Chartered Organization. He or she annually certifies that the Organization continues to support the Troop. He or she also approves the Chartered Organization Representative (COR).

The COR is the liaison between the Troop and Chartered Organization. The COR reports all Troop activities, service and rank progress to the Chartered Organization. The COR also shares Charter Organization activities and requests with the Troop.
The COR encourages the Troop to develop and maintain a strong program by encouraging proper adult and youth training and approving or denying adult applications to the Troop. The COR ensures that adults who are registered with the Troop subscribe to the Declaration of Religious Principle, Policy of Nondiscrimination, and the Scout Oath and Promise and agree to be guided by Charter Bylaws, Troop Bylaws, and Scouting America Rules and Regulations.
The COR approves all adult applicants. The COR may collaborate with the Council to remove any adult or youth from the Troop who violates Troop policy.

As head of the youth program, this adult leader guides and trains the youth leadership, recruits and maintains the adult Assistant Scoutmasters (ASM), who then assist in all areas of the youth program including development and advancement for rank and merit badges. The Scoutmaster reports to the COR. The Scoutmaster reports to the Troop Committee on the Troop’s program, planning, advancement, program development, and issues or problems within the Troop. All ASM’s are selected by the Scoutmaster and approved by adult application by the COR.

This adult leader is head of the troop business side that includes finance, fundraising, recharter, and policy. The Committee Chair reports to the COR, and is also responsible for recruiting adult members to serve on the Troop Committee. New committee members recruited by the Committee Chair are then approved by adult application by the COR.
The Scoutmaster and Committee Chair on an equal level; the Scoutmaster is the one running the youth program with assistance from the Assistant Scoutmasters whereas the Committee Chair is the one running the business side of the troop with assistance from the Troop Committee. Both rely on the other for success of the Troop and positions are viewed with equal responsibility and authority.

Troop 49 Adult Leadership (the Troop Committee) meets on the first Thursday of each month from 6:30-8:00 pm at the Delafield Presbyterian Church. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend, share ideas, and hear about the business side of Troop 49. We discuss upcoming activities and from the youth leadership. Adult support and transportation are needed for activities.
- Please contact us with any topics, questions, suggestions or concerns that may need to be reviewed by the Troop Committee, and plan on attending the meeting.
- We are trying to streamline the main portion of the meeting which covers committee reports & prearranged agenda topics. During the meeting, please keep topics on task with a "big picture" overview.
- Committee members who hold a position should send a report to all Committee Members a few days prior to the monthly Committee meeting.
- Contact Committee Chair Mrs. Jennifer McCarthy with any questions or comments: mccjen49@yahoo.com, 262-719-1897.
